Rescue Beauty Lounge-Scrangie

Good Evening Readers,

I am ready to start blogging again! With school full time, an internship and a husband in the military life was getting the best of me for a few months. I have really missed updating my blog and cant wait to dive back in!

Scrangie: 2 coats taken in sunlight

Today I am going to be showing you a Rescue Beauty Lounge polish that was released a year ago in July 2009, Scrangie. This polish was from the limited edition three-piece collection that RBL put out with the help of three of the most well-known polish bloggers.  Scrangie was the brainchild of one of my favorite bloggers and the namesake of the polish, Scrangie.  It was definitely my favorite polish from this collection and to me was the most unique. This polish is a beautiful purple with green/blue iridescence similar to that of the wing of an insect. I am normally not a fan of most purples but this one is my favorite purple ever!

I used just 2 coats of Scrangie to achieve a solid application.  It applies easily and smoothly even though it does have some micro glitter in it. The formula is, as always with RBL, perfection in my opinion.  I had no bubbling or pooling and it dried quickly to a beautiful glassy finish.  This polish also removed easier than I expected, considering the glitter, it removes like any normal non-glitter polish.  The wear was great with the polish and I didn’t start to see any wear until day 4 and it was only minor tip wear at that.

If you can get your hands on a bottle of Scrangie, I highly recommend you do!  This is an extremely unique polish with the great formula of RBL, a winning combination and must have!  I only purchased 2 of the 3 polishes from this collection, this and Orbis Non Sufficit.  Though I loved both polishes, this one was clearly the winner to me and the must buy out of the collection. If you have any of the blogger polish, did you love Scrangie as much as I do?  Which was your favorite from the collection?

Hard Candy Sweet P

Good Evening Readers,

Today I'm going to be showing you a polish that was released as a part of the new Hard Candy collection at Wal-Mart.  Sweet P, is a fun glitter polish that is very reminiscent of what Hard Candy is known for.  Sweet P is pea green glitter suspended in a clear base.

Sweet P: 2 coats taken in overcast sky

I applied 2 coats of Sweet P and got coverage I was happy with.  I don’t like to apply more than a couple coats, 3 tops, when I'm working with glitter polish because I find the more I apply the bumpier and more undesirable the finish is.  Sweet P definitely contains enough glitter to offer enough, though not totally opaque, coverage after 2 coats.  This polish was easy to work with and was a great thickness, not terribly thick the way many glitter polishes are.  The formula appears to be exactly the same as the original Hard Candy polish, which I am thrilled about because the original polishes were amazing! The wear on this was very good, which I'm sure is largely due to the glitter.  I plan on testing non-glitter polishes from the new Hard Candy polishes to see if the wear is the same as the original formula.

I would recommend this polish and all the new Hard Candy polishes in general to anyone looking for a fun polish.  One of the greatest things about these polishes are they are only $5 and have the quality of many $10 plus polishes currently on the market. Another plus is that these polishes are 3 free which is uncommon for polishes at this price point and a feature I know many of us are looking for these days.  These are available at all Wal-Mart stores, though some stores may not carry all colors, and they are currently available in 16 fun colors.  So what do you think of the new Hard Candy line up?

Nfu-Oh #66

Good Evening Readers,

I have been super busy with school, it’s taking up a lot more time then I expected. Unfortunately that means I can’t devote the amount of time I want to this blog.  I will continue to make post when I have free time and it will increase more during the summer.

For today I discovered a polish that I photographed many months ago and forgot to post, that polish is Nfu-Oh #66. This company has some really great holographic polishes and #66 is one of them, it has beautiful sea green undertones that are only visible in certain light. The holographic power in this polish is amazing and I always get a lot of compliments when I wear it!

#66: 3 coats taken in sunlight

#66 is a bit difficult to apply, as the brushes tend to leave streaks in the polish.  I try to dab this polish on instead of brushing it and this technique has worked well for me.  #66 dries really fast and you don’t see the full holographic effect until is it fully dried.  I did have some wear problems with this polish; it seems to wear very quickly around the tips of my nails.  Unfortunately adding a topcoat to this kills some of the holographic effect; I will continue to search for different top/base coat options that help make this polish last longer.  I hope I can find one because this is one of the most fun and unique polishes I own, if I do find a solution I will share the details as soon as possible!

Nfu-Oh is a really great brand with hundreds of unique polishes, if you have not tried them I urge you to take a look and think about purchasing a few.  You will not find these colors anywhere else!  The only place to buy these polishes is directly from the website, www.fabuloustreet.com, they offer free ground shipping in the U.S. and shipping is really quick. You receive slightly more polish then a typical bottle and it comes in a beautifully design bottle that resembles a corseted dress. #66 is a great polish to add to your collection and if you don’t love this color there are 6 other holographic colors to choose from!

Rescue Beauty Lounge-Frugalista

Good Evening Readers,

Sorry for my extended absence again.  I have been very busy as of late, I started back to school and had a death in the family about a week ago.  Now that things have calmed down a little bit I have a few new exciting things to show you!! I purchased several polishes from Rescue Beauty Lounge when they had their sale a couple months ago and I am very eager to share these lovely polishes with you!

Today I am going to show you Frugalista, this polish is packed and I mean totally packed full of silver and purple glitter.  This polish has a clear base, as do all of the glitter polishes RBL released last spring.  Frugalista is exactly like Locavore with the only difference being the color of the glitter.  I found Frugalista to be springier than Locavore because I personally think the more gold tone of Locavore is better suited in the fall/winter.  Frugalista is probably the most blingy polish I have and I absolutely love how fun this polish is in the sunlight.

Frugalista: 3 coats taken in sunlight

Frugalista applies really smoothly for a glitter polish.  I used 3 coats to achieve almost opaque coverage.  I think the polish would be a lot of fun layered over solid colors to give it a less bling finish. This polish wore extremely well, as to RBL’s standards.  One of the major things I love about glitter polishes is the fact that when I experience minor chipping a few days in I can easily repair the damage without it being noticeable.  Like most glitter polishes, Frugalista dried faster than what is normal for other non-glitter polishes.  It also is almost impossible to remove unless you chip it off your nails, one of the not so good aspects of a glitter polish.

I would recommend Frugalista to anyone who loves a glitter polish.  I feel that RBL produces some of the best glitter polishes because they are so packed with glitter.  I also would suggest it because I adore all RBL polishes because of their great quality and unique colors!

Butter London "Fashionista's Favorites" Collection- Rosie Lee

Good Evening Readers,

I hope all of you had a happy and safe New Year and are looking forward to all the fun, new polishes coming our way this year! We are finally to the last polish in Butter London’s fall set, Rosie Lee.  This polish has tons of rosy pink glitter in a clear base, its just beautiful.  It takes many coats to get a solidly opaque finish with this polish, I stopped at 3 coats and my nails still weren’t completely covered.  I was fine with this coverage however because from far you cant see the bald spots due to the high shine, I would guess it would take at least 1 more coat to get to an opaque finish, maybe 2.

Rosie Lee: 3 coats taken in sunlight

Rosie Lee dried extremely fast, which is typical of most solid glitter polishes.  I had a lot of wear problem with this polish though, I had chipping almost immediately after it was dry.  Normally glitter polishes have a big chipping problem but I have never seen one as bad as this one, it was like the polish could not adhere to the base coat and I have never had that happen before.  I am going to try different combinations of base and top coats to see if I can’t get a little bit better wear with this polish.  I found this problem to be slightly odd due to the high durability of all the other Butter London polishes I have tried so maybe I have a bad or old bottle.

I just love the color of Rosie Lee and how sparkly it is in the sunlight.  I’m hoping to find a way to get this polish to stick to my nails better; if I do I think this polish is one I will turn to regularly.  Its one of those polishes that makes you constantly look at your nails, so if your looking for a fun, pink glittery polish, I would recommend you give this one a try!
